HSC examinees and protesting students have blockaded roads in Nilkhet, Science Lab, and surrounding areas of the capital as part of their declared ‘Long March to the Ministry of Education’ program. This has halted vehicle movement in the area, leading to severe traffic congestion.

On Wednesday (July 15), around 2:30 PM, students took position at Nilkhet and Science Lab intersections, chanting various slogans. Their presence brought traffic to a standstill on Nilkhet, Science Lab, Elephant Road, Azimpur, and surrounding roads. Consequently, regular commuters were observed taking alternative routes.

Earlier, BGB and additional police had been deployed in the Nilkhet and Science Lab areas in anticipation of the potential program. However, as no gathering occurred until 1:00 PM, the scheduled end time for the HSC and equivalent examinations, the additional law enforcement personnel left the area.

Shortly after, around 2:30 PM, students suddenly gathered in Nilkhet, Science Lab, and surrounding areas, commencing their road blockade. This instantly paralyzed traffic throughout the entire area and created a tense situation.

Meanwhile, amid the students’ protest, HSC and equivalent examinations were held in 59 districts across the country on Wednesday. Following the examinations, the protesting students have announced plans to hold further protest programs in various locations, including Dhaka.
